Yes, but not all the modules are available to Active Perl 5.8 yet  also, beware that Active Perl 5.6 binary modules can not be used in 5.8

Welli 5.8 has nice features and bugfixes aaaannnd stable threads  so, It will not be a problem if you have MS Visual Studio 6' s C compiler... You can compile your own modules, or search the net for some perl people' s ppm repository. They post urls to the perl-win32 lists sometimes...
